Google is now replacing its Google Hangouts chatting app with the new “Google Chat”. Google Chat will now be the default messaging service March 22 onwards, so when you try to open Hangouts via Gmail, you’ll automatically be redirected to Chat.
However, noting that this transition is not optional, users are required to export their respective Hangouts data before it’s gone. As quoted by Google, the existing Hangouts will surely be visible in Chat, but might have a few exceptions.
Right now, Workspace, Suite Basic And Business users are able to observe this upgrade, a.k.a users of Google’s business platforms.
