Amazon has revealed an innovative new feature called “Virtual Try-On” which now enables customers to view how a pair of shoes looks on their feet from any angle before purchasing. This feature is currently on the Amazon shopping app on iOS which opens a new tab for it.
Making this possible through the application of augmented reality, this feature can also be used for trying out T-shirts and eyewear. As said by the company, the main objective here is to “inform consumers' buying decisions while also helping brands showcase their products.”
This AR feature can be observed in numerous brands like Superga, Adidas, Lacoste, Saucony, Reebok, Puma and many more. While scrolling the Amazon shopping app, the Virtual Try-On option will be right under the eligible products. On tapping, you point the smartphone’s camera to your feet and then view how the shoe looks on your foot in multiple angles by moving it, thus counting for a more interactive experience.
However, Amazon informs that its important to keep in mind that this is not a sizing tool to determine the size of your feet.
Right now, this feature is available only to iOS users in Canada and the US, but Amazon promises to bring it quite soon to the prominent Android phones as well.
